The first post can always be so nerve-wracking. What if you guys don’t like what I have to say? What if I say the wrong thing? What if it isn’t memorable enough? “What if, what if, what if?”
Who cares? The only guarantee of failure I have is if I don’t try! Sometimes getting started is the hardest part but here I am! Getting started and hoping that I can bring some light into your life!
Who am I?
My name is Lysha (“Lee-sha”) and I am a quirky, bad-ass feminist who is here to inspire you to love not only yourself, but to develop a healthy relationship with the planet – the mother who birthed us all.
I have struggled with depression for almost as long as I can remember. I have always had an over-active mind and an under-active body. While my weight has not been the only source of my struggles – it’s definitely been the biggest thing holding me back my entire life.
I, along with many others, have let something take over my thoughts:
Fear of not fitting in.
It’s silly isn’t it? Why do we let such trivial things take over our whole lives? Why do we let it stop us from living our life? I am here to tell you that you don’t have to let it stop you from living.
Throw that trash in the garbage!
Better yet – let’s recycle this idea into something new!
I want everyone to say this with me here, “I will not let my lack of self-love continue to rule my life.”
That was pretty easy wasn’t it?
Say it again, “I will not let my lack of self-love continue to rule my life.”
“I WILL NOT LET MY LACK OF SELF-LOVE CONTINUE TO RULE MY LIFE!”
Now just for shits and giggles let’s give this one a try, “I will love myself today!”
I know you may not believe that one yet. That’s where this blog comes in. I want to help you with that one! I want to help you realize that:
You are BEAUTIFUL!
We can ALL be beautiful!
The beauty industry would not exist if we didn’t all dislike or hate ourselves
We are brainwashed and conditioned every day to feel inadequate
You are ENOUGH!
You are enough! Have you ever stopped to think about this? Maybe you don’t have the most flawless skin, you may not have that perfectly toned tummy you see day in and day out. You may not like to sit down in fear of bumps and lumps showing. You may not have flowing locks of hair that looks effortless and flawless in a big messy bun. Heck, you may even have all of these things and you still don’t feel like your are enough.
I may not be perfect; I have days that I struggle to get out of bed and look into the mirror still too. Through the years I have developed healthy ways to cope and handle my thoughts. I know when I need to reach out to my support system and I realized that there is a unique beauty in being vulnerable.
We all spend so much time on social media seeing perfection every step of the way. Isn’t it weird how we all try to create this image that our lives are perfect? We all see these posts and we feel more and more alone. As we scroll, loneliness seems to be the only thing we all have in common and we’re doing it to ourselves. Here we are – all so desperate to find perfection in a world where perfection does not exist.
Then I discovered the body-positivity and self-love community and I discovered that I was not alone in my thoughts.
DO YOU KNOW HOW IMMENSELY RELIEVING THAT WAS?!?!?
The weight of the world felt as if it lifted from my shoulders! I wasn’t alone!
YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
I wanted to start this blog as a way to showcase to people everywhere that confidence and happiness is achievable. This is so important to me. I see the alarming rates at which depression is taking over our society. Let’s take our lives back!
Let’s learn to live again.
But wait – how are we going to live if the planet is dying?
Sit back and join me on my journey. My journey to bring you self-love and my journey to help save the planet.
I hope you want to join me on this journey. It’s rewarding – I promise.
